Hi there,

I have a bit of problem with my XA2, thing is that the shutter opens for exactly 2 seconds (the longest on the XA2) as it does not read any light at all... everything else works fine, electronics, and when set in flash mode the shutter is rapid, but other than that it always lasts 2 seconds no matter the ISO setting.

HOWEVER, some very rare times after cocking it dozens of times, the meter DOES start to read light and the shutter speeds get accurate (faster in well-light conditions and slower on dimmer light, and change in ISO are well accepted), but that's it. If I turn it off a while then again it returns to not read light at all.

Any advice? I haven't opened it yet, perhaps I should clean the magnets or something.

Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem on a XA. The magnets are clean, so it must be a corroded circuit board or something else in the electronics. I am stuck with it as well. Please let me know if you have found a solution. There is a repair manual for the XA under ''Repair Manuals'' on this site.

The magnet cleaning solved my problem. I'm sorry about yours. The corrosion usually it's no problem, as I tend to clean lots of old flashes that has it. However, the XA it's some little piece of art, and will sure be hell to put apart and together again. I really hope you run with luck on that one.
