The first Olympus OM-4T was noted for eating batteries. A later version which I think was designated a 4Ti but never marked on the body as such was said to be an improvement for this problem. Can anyone confirm this and can you tell me the serial number or other way of identifying the 4Ti version?

OOPS, I just found that some of the later bodies were marked OM-4Ti. Sorry

Oh, yes, the OM-4Ti is marked as such. One of the benefit over the older OM-4 is upgraded electronics supposedly with less parts on the flexible pc board.

Chiccolini, thanks for your imput. I have later read that bodies marked OM-4Ti were sold only outside the USA and the same upgrade was sold in the USA without the "i" in a black body only.Do not know why, but probably a marketing decision. I have a black body one marked OM-4T and was told that it was an ugraded model. Can anyone tell me how to determine if it is the upgrade, ie, serial number etc. Thanks

The 4T and Ti are the same camera. It is the OM-4 with a titanium body. The T was the US version. The T(i) never had a problem with batteries, this was a problem with the early OM-4's. It was corrected in later OM-4's and all T(i)'s.
