Is there any reliable way to sell film cameras and lenses online?
I have too many and need the space.
I won't use ebay, as I have never sold there and am worried about the new rules making it easier to be ripped off by dishonest buyers.

You can sell them to me or on the Photo.net classifieds.

I've used Ebay for the last three years and have bought and sold 80 items. I have never had a problem. Two items I bought never arrived but I got my money back. The items that I have sold have been without problems. Just be careful, if it seems to good to be true, it is not true.

I won't use ebay because I don't have paypal, and will not give anyone direct access to my bank account. I've heard too many horror stories to risk it.
Most of what I have is Canon F1(n and new), A1, T90, accessories for all, and FD lenses.
Plus some Miranda, Praktina, and Edixa.
I guess I'll just ship it all to my repairman and let him sell it all for me.

Hi!
There are some free sites, such as PRELOVED.I was naive enough to put my personal email address in originally, resulting in a deluge of spam. Now I use a hotmail address, and so far, no problems. I left ANYADS, simply because they pinpoint your address too closely for comfort. Trade-it was good, but maybe because I am naff with computors, I can't get in any more. Petercat, I opened an account with a pound at my bank. This gave me a card amd ebay access. Account has a minimal amount of money in it, and
a strict no overdraft facility.
I hope this helps

You should try Camera Shopper magazine (http://www.camera-shopper.com/).

Hi Everyone! I just joined today. I bought a Miranda camera and found out its a
Miranda FM camera with a M metered CDS prism. The camera says Miranda No. 708175
Japan on the back. It has a Soligor Miranda 1:2.8 f=3.5cm No. 2225155 Made in
Japan Lens. Was wondering if any one knows the value of this camera and lens?
Please let me know. Thanks.. I bought it for $2.00 at a Yard Sale yesterday.

Jennie; My 1998 McKeown's Price Guide lists your Miranda at $100/$150 in Black,$65/$100 in chrome.
An eBay search of completed items shows one in chrome which sold for $39.00 on Aug. 8, 2009.

I am trying to find out where I might sell a Bolex h16 . I do not know if the camera works, but it is kept with all of its original paperwork and the leather case, lenses, gun, and slides, etc. What protocol do you suggest I follow in order to test the camera? I am not into ebay, and I need to have someone who knows their stuff evaluate the camera before I can list an accurate condition, etc. I believe the serial number indicates about 1948-9 production year.

I do not know where you are located, but I would find a local cine society/club and ask one of the older members for help - video is not necessarily king to some folk. If you have the instruction manual, you could always find a spool of film and actually see what appears on development.

If all the kit is in nice cosmetic condition, I would seriously think about selling via a specialised auction house rather than eBay.

The prices of film cameras have dropped dramatically in the past five years. That would include motion picture film cameras as well.

Only a few highly collectible lines have escaped the trend.

A Bolex H16, although a fine piece of Swiss craftsmanship, has little demand these days in video work. I wish it were otherwise.

I have to say that those looking to purchase a Bolex are likely to look on ebay.

Beyond that, I agree with Glenn. Try a local club if there is one to be found.

Kevin- I've pretty much come to the same conclusion. I've just bought a bigger house with room to not only display all of my cameras, but to build a full darkroom again. Now to buy a walk-in freezer and start stocking up on film... and paper... and chemicals.
And I just saw a FD 35mm tilt-shift lens for sale cheap... and a nice F1... oh, damn, I'm at it again!
