After static contacts have been cleaned is any 'specialised' after care needed?
Along with a very dirty Minolta X700 (ebay) I received an unlisted 132PX flash. It fired off the camera in the hand, which in itself differed from my existing working? 132PX, but wouldnt fire on the camera. In fact it caused the camera to freeze mid shot, I am guesing with the mirror up. As soon as the flash unit was switched off the camera completed the shot. Anyway my flash worked on the camera and the 'new' flash caused my own camera to lock up in the same manner.
I started to strip the faulty flash and inside the foot I found a PCB with 5 springs pressing on it. The footprint contacts patches on the pcb for 2 of these springs were dirty and after I cleaned them and loosely reassembled the foot the flash and camera seem to work in harmony.
I had to brush the contacts with a mini wire brush to get through the dirt and then used a cotton bud soaked in isopropyl alcohol but I want to know if I should finish the job off with a coating of some sort. The pcb will be getting another rub before the flash is permanently put back together but I just wanted to check the best course of action.
