I have a 1971 Honeywell Auto Strobonar 115 but its battery seems dead (good for 2-3 flashes, then needs recharge) I would like to change it, but have no idea how to open the battery compartment, or dismantle unit. |

Probably the (presumably rechargeable) batteries have simply expired, given that the unit is that old! Sometimes the old gear is usable, sometimes it just needs to be "retired" with diginity.... |

Sure it is problem with expired batteries (most probably old Ni-Cd kind).
However expired batteries can be changed for new ones, but I dont know how to open the body of the
flash - there are no screws, nor latches visible! If somebody have had similar problem, or a repair manual for the unit, I could open it, change battery and save it from retirement! |

Squeeze the two horizontal tabs at the back of the head to unlock the battery comprtment. Inside you will find four Ni-Cad black batteries; they can be replaced. Initial recharge time will be about 18 hours and should be good for 80+/- flashes about every ten seconds. |
