Guys, I have a late model (black 1977) Jupiter-12 in LTM apart for service.

Optics and diaphragm are out, the last step is to separate the helical. I removed the infinity stop screw but something is still preventing the helical from separating?

Where to go from here? I was expecting it just to thread out.

On my earlier lacquered polished alloy version, after I had removed everything from the helical - scale, all visible screws etc, the helical did indeed just screw apart. I have an anodised version from an unknown factory that was difficult to separate, due to thread damage on the helical. The damage had obviously been done during initial assembly. I am sorry that this is not very helpful. I also gather that the later black models had slightly modified construction to keep manufacturing costs down. However on other lens types this modified construction actually reveals itself as painted/transferred scales, instead of engraved scales.

Glenn,

Its not a grindy kind of stuck stop, rather a solid metal stop. (helical is smooth, overgreased and overflowing with oil, but smooth)
